Available for pre-order now via Flipkart or Also Read: The Complete List of Xiaomi Mi 8 Vs Mi 8 Pro Comparison Xiaomi has finally launched the much-awaited Mi 8 in India with all the top specifications you have been waiting for. The flagship phone from the Chinese company will be available in three colour variants – Gold, Rose Gold, and Black. The device is priced at Rs 29999, Rs 29999 and Rs 39999 respectively. It will be available for pre-order starting today on Flipkart starting at 12 PM IST and starting at 9 AM IST. It will be available for customers to purchase on August 28th via Amazon India as well, however, it won’t come with any pre-orders discount. Here’s our first impression of the device after having used it for a day!

Xiaomi has improved its camera yet again by introducing two new sensors – a 12MP primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture (which is same as the one featured on Poco F1) and a 20MP secondary sensor with f/2.2 aperture (same as Poco F1). This means that the rear cameras on the phone are now better than what we saw on the Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite earlier this month! There are also two lenses inside the dual camera setup – one is a telephoto lens which allows you to zoom up to 2x

, and the other a wide-angle lens which allows you to capture 2x more pixels than what the standard wide angle lens on a phone can. The new sensors are placed vertically on the back of the phone, which is an improvement over the Mi 8 Lite as it doesn’t affect the ergonomics of the device.

The battery has also been increased from 4,000mAh to 4,350mAh this time around. While we don’t have any official word about how long it will last on a full charge, we would say that it should be good for at least two days (with normal usage) as per our experience with Poco F1. Xiaomi claims that it has improved its AI chip this time too and has come up with two new chips – one for power efficiency and another for AI processing. The company claims that its AI chip will improve in real-life usage scenarios such as gaming or photography.

Xiaomi has also introduced a new gesture navigation system called ‘Gesture navigation mode’ which is similar to Samsung’s face unlock features on phones such as Galaxy S9 or Galaxy Note 9. However, unlike those phones where you have to look at your phone to unlock your device, Xiaomi’s version requires you to swipe up or down while holding your phone in landscape mode as we saw on Poco F1! We tried out this feature and found it really easy to use and works very well!

Xiaomi’s new phone will be available in Black and Grey color options. The company has also introduced a new gradient color option called ‘Atomic Gray’ which is a mix of black, grey and copper. The gradient will be available in both the colors as well.

Xiaomi has also announced that it will launch a USB Type-C to 3.5mm headphone jack adapter alongside the launch of the Mi MIX 2S. This adapter can be used to connect your headphones and charge your phone at the same time!
